Light
"In photography and in life,
Always look for the light -
if you don't see it,
bring it..."
/John Waire/
However, that is not what I want to write about today. I believe, light can be one of the most beautiful things. The way light behaves, bends, and changes every hour makes for some wonderful and challenging photography situations.
During the peak of the afternoon it is not as easy flow with the light. Straight in the sun, photos are often filled with nothing but harsh lighting, squinting models and, I promise, other unmentioned problems. However, there are ways to use that harsh light to take photos when the sun is high in the sky without the unwanted, harsh light.
An example of that is this:
and this:
Now, those pictures are stunning however I did not take them. I found them on Pinterest because I couldn't find a way to show this example through one of my own pictures.
If you see a patch of light seize the opportunity to place a plant or an object in its path and take a beautiful picture.
If you want to take photos outside when the light is harsh you can always take photos under the shade. This way, the photos will not be full of unwanted harsh lighting. You can not get away from taking photos when the sun is high in the sky, whether you like it or not the golden hour that you may think is the most beautiful time of the day only lasts and hour to an hour and a half. Taking photos under a shady area is a way to use the objects you are given to adjust the lighting.
One last lighting situation I would like to talk about is golden hour! When the sun is beginning to set the world seems to glow. Many times the things I like taking pictures the most of during golden hour are the sky and sun itself.
These are all photos I have taken throughout the years and I love the way the sun is portrayed in each one different and uniquely.
